Professional
Rima Singh is a seasoned and passionate educator with over twenty years of experience in the field in teaching and school administration in the United Arab Emirates and India. She is a gold medallist with a Masters in Science with specialisation in Nutrition from Lady Irwin College of Delhi University. Before taking up teaching as a profession she was a Nutritionist and Counsellor in the health sector. She has co-authored a book on nutrition. An active learner herself, she was awarded The Golden Leaf Award for the Diploma in Environmental Education from the Centre for Environment Education affiliated to Commonwealth of Learning, Vancouver.
She is the founder head of DPS International school, the first DPS school to offer the IB programmes and prior to joining DPS International, she has worked at the Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad, Pathways World School and DPS Sharjah, UAE. She has received extensive training by IB for understanding and implementing the IB Programmes and is a trained IB Workshop leader and school consultant besides being an IB Chair for school accreditations. She is a keen sportsperson and her interests include reading, travel, trekking and games like tennis, basket-ball and golf.
Ms Singh’s vision includes for students to receive an education where they can develop their knowledge and skills, where academic endeavour is encouraged and creativity is nurtured, where values such as respect, honesty and kindness are seen as important, where there is an understanding of right and wrong, and where a sense of community and service is valued. Her ideal school is one where every child, teacher and other members of the school community are encouraged to develop and grow. She believes in the responsibility of educators in equipping the current generation with the skill set which is transferable and is required to succeed in the ever evolving and challenging world. Hence, as a school leader she strives to ensure all educators constantly upgrade their own skills to build a rich intercultural environment that is fundamental to the roots of an international school.
Personal
Daughter of an Army officer, she has moved a lot in her childhood attending many schools. This made her strong, resilient and able to adapt to different circumstances.
Very fond of sports (Hockey, Basketball, Table Tennis and Lawn tennis) and outdoors (Trekking and Walking).
Started her career as a Therapeutic Nutritionist after doing an internship in AIIMS and topping her college with a Gold medal. She married a Tea planter and played a lot of tennis and golf on the Tea plantations.
Then she moved to Dubai with her family, where she started teaching and there has been no looking back since then.
